I am an assistant professor in the Communication, Culture, and Technology program at Georgetown University, specializing in Political Communication and new media. My research interests include political communication, political behavior, media effects, new media, and social media, with an emphasis on the intersection between media, technology, and politics. Some current projects focus on exposure to political information via social media, measuring exposure to news and politics within social media, rethinking political socialization in a new media environment, measuring online influence, considering political communication in contentious political environments, measuring how social media can combat misinformation, examining elite effects on public opinion, and political use of Twitter.
